Jack,
I've scanned many B&W negs with the Canoscan FS4000 and can vouch for it. I scan at max resolutions for these as well as color and do image editing with Picture Window Pro and produce prints that rival wet darkroom prints. Of course the dust & scratch removal doesn't work with the B&W film. Allen
