I've tried playing with this using a dusty slide.

I'm using the latest Vuescan (7.4.2), but cannot get the dust removal to work anything like as well as Filmget does. Using an infrared offset of 0.98 works much better than 1.0, but anything less than that seems to have no further effect - even down to 0.75. Either way there are significant dust marks that are not visible on the Filmget scan.
