Todd, Don't bother getting more than 512 meg. Win 98 will not support more. In fact WKB (microsoft) said if you have more than 512 meg of ram your system may slow down. This is not a problem with Win 2000 or XP. : Thanks for your response, and for all of the info on your site -- it has been tremendously helpful in deciding to buy the FS4000US (despite the potential problems), having solutions ready for common problems, and averting problems altogether. Good news... the dust removal has worked on a couple of 4000 dpi images (through Picture Window) since I posted the original message. I'll still try to add some RAM and try the scanner on a more powerful computer when I have a chance. : Thanks again,
